This may help some of you who seem to not have this talent yet. It has nothing to do with typing but the actual content that you type. Let's start at the beginning...
Title Make it obvious. In a few words, sum up what you're trying to say or ask. "I have a question" is not a good title. It's one of the worst titles alive. It is closely followed by the titles "Help me!" and "I need advice." What is the question about? We don't know. If we don't know if we can answer your question, why should we even read it. A better title would be. "Can blood give me gas?" or "My donor and I got in an arguement." That lets people who are good with diets and people who are good with relationships know that they can probably help you without even reading your post yet.
Body Use paragraphs. They don't even have to be real paragraphs. Just press enter in random places and that will be an improvement. It helps people keep track of where they're reading. That's why they exist: to separate portions of reading. You wouldn't eat a whole turkey at once, you would cut it up in small bites (or bite off small bites for some of you).
Do not repeat topics Common repeated topics are "Am I a vampire?!" (or a topic that should be titled "Am I a vampire" but it's really been incorrectly titled "Help me!" or "Confused"), and "The fourms are back!" We cannot tell you if you are a vampire (and I'm sure in a few days, there will be a big long article explaining this since it dissapeared), and we know the forums are back. We know because we're here. Only one person has to say it one time to make one topic.
Do not support repeats Okay, so someone messed up. They made a repeat topic. There are two topics about the forums being back up. One is older, has more intelligent posts, and the other is newer with fewer posts. Which do you post in? The old one! Just ignore the new repeats! It will help the mods. They're doing their job, I promise. They will go through and delete all the repeats... unless you said something smart in it. Then they'll have to keep it there because you were silly enough to post in a repeat and support the wasting of domain space but you were smart enough to say something intelligent.
Read BEFORE you post It's very easy to skip over words. Skipping over the words "not" and "but" can result in you replying in a potentionally rude way. You don't have to read fast. No one is timing you. Read it. If you think you want to reply, read it again just to make sure.
Post in the right forum Sangi has done a wonderful job of making a specific forum for any topic you might want to post here. Use them. You do not need to ask for a donor in the Bloody Minded forum. If you put them in the right forum, it will help the mods. They're just a lazy as you are except they have a job to move the topic into the correct place. Come on, a few extra clicks is not going to hurt you. Thos extra calories burned my moving your mouse and finger might help you lose that weight. Donor ads go into Seekers Corner.
Quoting Do not quote the post in front of you, unless you're responding to a specific sentence or statement. When you are responding to a specific statement, don't quote the whooole post. Only quote that which you need to make your reply. Separate your quote from your reply using the "Enter" key. It's the one on top of the "Shift" key and the "Enter" key has an arrow pointing to the left on it. If you want to quote the entire post of that person's last post in the thread, just use their name.
Multiple Posts Do not post and reply to your own post. If, in one thread, there are three or 4 of your posts in a row, there's something wrong. There is a feature used on this board called "Edit" Just add to your post and write the name or quote who you're replying to. And please look up ^ if you decide to quote.
Do we care? Ask us that, please, before you post. This is a vampire support site. Do we care that your cat isn't using the litter box? No.
Be original! Don't copy and paste things from other websites and post that. We don't want to hear that! We want to hear you. This board is your chance to be heard as a vampire or donor. We don't want to hear about someone else.
Anyone have anything else to add?
